In late June, 17 students and leaders traveled to Cambodia to work with Open Bible missionaries Ly & Sarin Mak. Cambodia is a country still reeling from the Khmer Rouge led genocide of the late 70’s where one out of four Cambodians were killed. The Mak’s fled Cambodia during that time but have returned to bring healing and the hope of Christ to their homeland. Their primary focus is toward the children. Every morning kids from surrounding villages of the Lifesong Center come for pre-school. Afternoons and evenings classrooms are filled with elementary through high-school aged kids who learn English while also learning about Jesus. The team had the opportunity to lead all of these activities, each moment falling more in love with the people of Cambodia. We went into other villages to let kids know about Lifesong and invite them to church. On Sunday morning hundreds of kids arrived, sat on a concrete floor, sang worship songs, and listened to a message. How exciting it is to see God changing the direction of a country through these young ones. Our student missionaries served selflessly early morning to night, through the heat of the Cambodian summer, without complaint. I’m so proud of the way they represented themselves, Central Region and Jesus Christ. Thank you for your prayers during this trip. Please begin to pray and look for ways to support our youth mission team as we travel to Japan next year.
