Team Cheers/Chants: Each team will create their own unique team name and cheer. Throughout the week your team will compete in games/activities, in hopes of scoring tons of POINTS. At the end of the week, the team with the most points will be called up to center stage, and given the opportunity to hoist the “Summer Camp Cup” for all to see. A plaque will be put on the trophy and engraved with the teams name, churches, and year.
Epic Glow Stick Game: It’s a glow stick game, and it’s EPIC. Lots of running around in the dark, and lots of POINTS!
Capture the Flag: Ask and you shall receive….. Capture the Flag is BACK!!
This time around, our game of CTF will be played during morning/afternoon rotations, and will consist of 2 teams, with 3 colors on each team. We will use the ENTIRE Big Field for this version of CTF. You DON’T want to miss it!!
Treasure Hunt: Hidden Treasures. Outdoors. At night. (Nothing will be hidden inside any buildings, or on any roofs).
This game is a spin-off of the FAMOUS “Counselor Hunt” game. Basically, small “treasures” will be hidden all around the campground. Each one worth a certain amount of points! Will you and your team be able to find them all?
Color War: BACK by popular demand…. This corn starch throwing, chaos ensuing, rainbow inhaling game of greatness is happening once again. AND– our supply has MULTIPLIED! Last year’s Color War consisted of 300lbs of colored corn starch, but this year’s will consist of 400lbs!
Join us as we throw handfuls of safe, colorful, powder-ized corn starch at each other for approximately 4 minutes and 28 seconds of AWESOMENESS!!
Bonfire Hangout: Let’s hangout! Smore’s ingredients provided. Dance battles, Arm-wrestling competitions, and telling stories of, “The good ole’ days” are encouraged. Take some time to meet someone new this week at camp.
Field Games: These activities will feature competitions with boys and girls competing separately to earn points for their team! We can’t give them all away…. But some of them may involve barrel racing, kick soccer baseball, Ultimate, and…….. more!
Lights Out: 12:00am…. sharp! Sleep is important. We understand that staying up all night long and getting no sleep whatsoever seems like a great idea, but in order to best receive what God has for you this week at camp, let’s be sure to get enough rest. You DON’T want to miss what GOD has in store for your life this summer at camp.
————— SOMETHING NEW(ER) —————–
Cabin Inspections: That’s right, we are doing them again! This year (after Morning Devo time), all cabins will follow the “Cabin Inspection Schedule” and groups should only decorate their cabin for points on the cabin inspection day that they are scheduled t0! The cabins will be inspected by the Activities Crew during Games/General Sessions (Morning and Afternoon), and a recap video of the inspections will be shown each night during the evening service. The awesomer your cabin is, the more POINTS you earn for your team. Bribes are accepted.
Cabin Inspection Schedule: This will be made available in the weeks leading up to camp. All youth leaders will receive an email with the schedule!
Daily Recap Videos: At the evening service each night, we will watch a recap video of the previous day’s footage. Be on the lookout for moments where you can do totally awesome things that everyone will remember forever. Just make sure the camera person is around first.
Summer Camp Cup: At the end of the week, the team with the most points will be called up to center stage, and given the opportunity to hoist the “Summer Camp Cup” for all to see. A plaque will be put on the trophy and engraved with the teams name, churches, and year. The trophy will be on display in the Airnasium throughout the week for all to see.
Girls/Boys– Game time NEW rule: Boys and Girls will be split up during daytime games. This is meant to offer fair and equal gaming opportunities during our daytime games, which often involve a more physical dynamic. Late Night games will still involve boys/girls together.
Morning Devotional: Let’s start our days off right, with some time in the Word! God’s wants to speak to you this week at camp. The least we can do is to “set-aside” some of our time each morning to read His word, and to listen to His voice.
General Sessions: This week, you will hear from different speakers as they cover valuable topics that relate directly to the camp theme this summer– Playlist! These speakers will provide us with realistic ways that we can apply the camp’s theme to our everyday lives.
PREVIOUSLY named, “The Talent Show”– Thursday Night Live will showcase comedic skits, songs, and group performances! This has historically been on of the most anticipated events of camp each year! The purpose of this is to bring your team colors together to work AS A TEAM to put these acts together. There are a few CHANGES to the rules from last year, so PLEASE review them below:
Rules: At least 10 people in an act. Up to 5 minutes per act. Up to 2 acts per team color. No live music performances unless the lyrics are comedic. (an example of this would be the funny parody songs written by “The JustSky Band”, that were performed at camp in previous years).
Make us laugh, cry, pee our pants, or all three. But, do it with a MINIMUM of 6 people on stage. Our judges panel will take each act into careful consideration, and render a final verdict after the last act has concluded. The judges panel will be following a RUBRIC that will be used for all acts. The rubric can be viewed by clicking HERE. The points out of 30 are for scoring purposes only– more points will be given to the winning teams.
—————
All acts MUST be approved by two councilors of the same team-color. Any “Questionable” acts should be approved by either: The Activities Director Simon Zuffa or Camp Director Skyler Sanford.
If you are unsure whether your act is “Questionable” or not…… It probably is. Talk with Simon or Skyler.
More points are awarded during Thursday Night Live than during any other activity all week.
Break a leg!
