What is re.fresh?

Re.fresh is a dynamic, interactive weekend experience.  It includes a broad representation of people from a church to discuss where the church has been, where the church is currently, and to dream about where the church is going. The goal is to remove the hindrances to health so that the church can experience future growth.

Who needs re.fresh?

This is for churches who desire to go to the next level, grow their weaker areas, and reach more people for Christ.

How does the re.fresh process work?

It begins with a conversation between a lead pastor and a regional health facilitator. A date is agreed upon for the consultation and then an online survey which will measure the 8 factors of a healthy church is scheduled.  The survey is taken with a cross-section of people from the congregation participating. The weekend event usually requires 8 hours of facilitated exercises. A blend of people (non-related, male and female, younger and older, and varying longevity at the church) will be arranged around tables. They will keep all of their documents produced so that the facilitator can retain the data in order to prepare the church’s health report.

How much does a re.fresh consultation cost?

Central Region covers most of the costs of a re.fresh weekend including the survey, consultant’s fee and travel, table materials, and coaching. The church is responsible to provide snacks and beverages and usually a meal during the event, depending on the schedule.

Why should you host a re.fresh event in your church?

Bruce Pfadenhauer, NOW Healthy Churches Director

Last month’s Next Generation Leaders Retreat in Des Moines, IA, was a powerful time of encouragement and renewal. With a record-high attendance of 61 leaders, we gathered for two and a half days of connection and growth. We are especially grateful to Bruce and Robin Pfadenhauer, Steve and Jan Mathews, and Zac Anderson for sharing their wisdom, experiences, and insight. Their words brought fresh perspective to the daily work of ministry, inspiring and equipping us to lead with clarity and purpose.

We are also excited to offer a free 1-year RightNow Media subscription for pastors, key leaders, and ministry volunteers in Central Region. This resource provides access to a wealth of biblically based content designed to strengthen leaders and equip churches. For more information on how to receive this free subscription email skyler@openbiblecentral.org.

The impact of this event extends far beyond our time together, as leaders return to their ministries refreshed and encouraged. The relationships built and the wisdom shared will continue to bear fruit in the months ahead. We are grateful for everyone who made this gathering possible and look forward to the next opportunity to come together, be strengthened, and grow in our calling!

Blessings,

Skyler Sanford, NEXT GENERATION DIRECTOR

CHURCH INSURANCE

We have arranged with Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company to be part of their ministry partner program. Brotherhood Mutual provides high-quality insurance protection and risk management services and works exclusively with churches and related non-profit ministries.  Within the last year you may have noticed a new name.  American Church Group, an agency representing Brotherhood Mutual, has changed their name to Lightwell Insurance as they expand and diversify.  They are still the same great team committed to standing in the gap and providing guidance in ministry insurance.

When churches practice good risk management, they provide a safer place for their members to worship, resulting in few losses. When that happens, Brotherhood Mutual gives our denominational office a Safe Ministry Reward.   The ministry partner program does not affect insurance premiums, but it does help our denomination when member churches and ministries manage their risks well.

You can find more information about Brotherhood Mutual and the many risk management services that the company offers at www.brotherhoodmutual.com, or you can contact Brotherhood Mutual at 515-371-6530 or for Customer Service, 800.844.3384, ext 201.  If I can answer any questions about our experience with Brotherhood Mutual, just let me know.
