Ah, the heat of summer! The lazy hazy days, especially with the smoke settling in Iowa from the Canadian wildfires. Some days the race is wearisome. We get tired and are easily tripped up.  We forget why we do what we do. However, Hebrews 12:1 tells us, “Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us.”

It is with hope and encouragement that the writer of Hebrews spurs us on, cheering for us as we complete the race. Running the race that is set before us means each of us running at our own pace in the manner that Christ has established for us and our calling – letting go of our pride, failures, insecurities and patiently running the race to the end. Let’s keep running side by side, cheering each other along!

Have a great rest of the summer fellow leaders!  I’m looking forward to our time together September 27-29 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin at The Gathering – Open Bible Central Leaders’ Event.  It’s a great time to rest and be renewed so we can pick up the pace in our race!
